Hi, Dr. Howland,
At the end of last week we received requests from our I/S group for 3
more interns!! I was wondering if you could forward these job
descriptions on to your class(es), as well the additional professor
that was attending the presentation as well. Unfortunately, I didn’t
write her name down, so I have no means of contacting her. I’m
hoping she can forward on as well to her class(es) as well! If the

Job Description:
Performs Application System Administration duties for Valero's SAP
and Enterprise Content Management environments. Application System
Administration duties include installing, configuring, patching, and
upgrading complex applications. Other duties include database
administration, daily monitoring, performance tuning, providing
periodic on-call support, and issue identification and resolution.
Job Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Computer
Science, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred.
GPA of 3.25 required. Advanced degree preferred. GPA of 3.25
required. Candidates will need to have technical problem solving
skills including the ability to troubleshoot and research software,
network, and hardware issues. I/S experience with scripting
languages, Microsoft Office products, relational databases, Windows
Operating Systems, and/or direct computing support activities
including knowledge of equipment, application software, and operating
system software is preferred. Excellent communication skills required
to interact with internal and external contacts as well as all levels
of management.
This is the description for the testing positions. This position is
not posted online yet. It should be posted today or tomorrow.
Job Description:
This position will be part of the QAT team (Quality Assurance
Testing). Team will be building re-usable components, test sets, and
documenting standards and guidelines. Will work with various teams to
select the application processes to automate that would enable higher
quality and more thorough testing while also reducing man-time
requirements. The tool used to record application processes is
Mercury QTP (Quick Test Professional). Once the initial recording is
completed the QAT developer will add validation and error processing.
The scripts will then be converted to be driven by multiple Excel
spreadsheets containing different testing scenarios.
Job Requirements:
Currently pursuing a degree (undergraduate or graduate) in Management
Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field required. If
an undergraduate, must be at least junior level status by May 2010.
GPA of 3.25 required. Must have strong Microsoft Visual Basic and
writing skills. Student must be able to work 40 hours per week during
the summer
