Juniors,
The two machines which you will be using are now known
as Hardy and Charon and are located in HAS 200. You may
destroy the system software on these machines and re-build
what you wish. As to networking config you may use the same
fixed ip's
hardy.cs.trinity.edu has address 131.194.71.22
charon.cs.trinity.edu has address 131.194.71.27
or DHCP.
The network ports connecting these machines to the trinity.edu
network are sub-netted to the 131.194.71 network.
If you re-build these machines using some linux distro, it may
be possible for the machine to be configured to mount sol:/users
Since you will have root access to these machines, it will be considered
a violation of Trinity's Computer Use Policy to mount sol:/users on these
machines for obvious security reasons. During development, if you
need to mount your unix home directory, you should use smb or ssh
to do this so that your access is limited to your home directory and
is session based.
John
