This is correct.  I think this is the way I wrote this:

Select run from Start menu and type

\\sol\username

I remember commenting about the "\" used by Win systems and how
it is different in a gratuitus way from the rest of the world.

I also said, under MacOS X, you go to the Finder and Select Connect to Server
from the Go menu (Command-K), then type in a URL like syntax of

smb://sol.cs.trinity.edu

I think I said smb://sol.cs.trinity.edu/username in class and
this is incorrect.
Your Mac will then ask for login information.  It shows Sol being
in the CS domain (you must remove this) and enter your passwd.
